He burns his father??"s dead body?

On Wednesday, 15 May 2024, a man and his three friends were arrested on charges of killing his father in Uttar Pradesh after the man questioned his son's homosexuality.

On May 4, the incident was reported in Mathura, when the body of the man was found inside a box in a burnt condition.

According to the police, the four friends murdered the man after the latter found his son and his friend in a compromising situation. He later objected to their closeness, leading to frequent arguments.

As the argument heated up, the four tied the hands of the man stabbed him to death, and hid his body inside a box.

They set the box on fire on Aligarh Road, after a foul smell started coming after 24 hours.

Police said the accused were identified after the CCTV footage came to light.

While two were caught in an encounter with police, the other two were arrested later.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, the crime rate per lakh population dropped from 445.9 in 2021 to 422.2 in 2022.

This decline is considered a more reliable indicator, accounting for the impact of population growth on absolute crime numbers.

However, crimes against women saw an increase. The NCRB reports a 4per cent rise in such crimes in 2022 compared to 2021. The majority of these crimes were related to cruelty by husbands or relatives, kidnapping, assault, and rape.
