Actor Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda jail at 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, a few hours after being granted four weeks of bail by the Telangana High Court. The actor had been arrested in connection with a stampede during the premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre, which resulted in one fatality.

According to the officials, Allu Arjun spent the night in prison as the bail formalities could not be completed overnight.

The actor was reportedly escorted out through a gate where no media personnel were stationed to avoid media attention.

The events unfolded rapidly on Friday, with the actor being taken in for questioning by Chikkadpally Police. This led to a wave of reactions, including criticism from political leaders over the arrest.

The actor was questioned because his name surfaced in the investigation into the stampede at Sandhya 70 MM Theatre, which claimed the life of a woman and left her son critically injured and undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The High Court's interim bail order instructed, "The concerned Jail Superintendent and the Commissioner of Police are directed to ensure that this order is implemented immediately."
