Veteran actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty who recently joined BJP has been given 'Y+' VIP security by the Centre, official sources said on Wednesday, reported NDTV. Reportedly, the security cover will be provided by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that has a dedicated wing for this task, called the special security group (SSG).
A senior officer said that Mr Chakraborty has been given a ''Y+'' security cover. The officer added that the armed CISF commandos have been provided in order to accompany him during the poll campaign in West Bengal. Mr Chakraborty had joined BJP on Sunday at the mega rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.

According to BJP sources, there is a chance of an attack by the ruling Trinamool Congress for which the 70-year-old actor has been provided with the security cover, reported The Free Press Journal. Reportedly, the CISF now protects a total of 104 VIPs, including National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
