To do key talks on the LAC border truce…
On Monday, 16 December 2024, according to a source, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is scheduled to visit China on December 17 to hold Special Representative (SR) level talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The discussions aim to address the tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). In 2020, it was the first such meeting since December 2019.
NSA Ajit Doval’s upcoming visit to China follows an agreement reached two months ago between New Delhi and Beijing on patrolling arrangements along the LAC in the India-China border areas.
The border standoff between India and China, which began in 2020 in eastern Ladakh, was triggered by Chinese military maneuvers. This confrontation resulted in prolonged tensions, severely impacting bilateral relations.
The previous Special Representative meeting occurred in December 2019. It was to the escalation of tensions where Ajit Doval led the Indian side while Wang Yi led the Chinese delegation.
