Amit Shah is in Assam today for a two day visit
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Assam after his high-decibel visit in West Bengal as the state of Assam also goes to polls in a few months from now. On late Friday night December 25 amid much fanfare he landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati and was received by the Assam Chief Minister Srabananda Sonowal.
Union Minister Shah’s program includes financial grants distribution to 8000 Namghars (a traditional Vaishnavite monasteries of Assam) and the laying of the foundation stone of a cultural and tourist destination at the ‘Batadarva Dham’ along with a new medical college in Guwahati and nine law colleges across Assam according to a prominent news agency. Shah is also expected to flag off the 2021 BJP’s campaign for the assembly elections of the state and address the party workers. He will also be meeting the leaders of the regional parties according to various news reports.
In his second leg of his visit to the north east on December 27 the Union Home Minister will be laying the foundation stone of the Churachandpur Medical College in Imphal. The flagging off of projects to build the state government’s guest house and police headquarters in Imphal, the Manipur Bhawan in New Delhi and the Indian Institute of Technology at Muong Khong will also take place in his prime presence according to the reports of a prominent news agency.
