Army Rescues 1200 Stranded Tourists

Amid East Sikkim Snowfall...


The Indian Army effectively rescued 1,217 stranded tourists in the elevated areas of eastern Sikkim during a well-coordinated nighttime operation, prioritizing the safety and well-being of those in need.

 

Reports indicate that civil administration officials are currently in transit from Gangtok to 17 Mile, actively involved in facilitating the return of the stranded tourists to Gangtok.

 

Elderly, women, and children were among the stranded tourists spread across various locations in eastern Sikkim, a situation attributed to adverse weather conditions and heavy snowfall.

 

The Indian Army's Trishakti Corps dedicatedly carried out the rescue mission, persisting late into the evening. Stranded tourists were successfully moved to safer areas and offered essential provisions, including shelter, warm clothing, medical aid, and hot meals, as reported by officials.

 

The army, as conveyed in its release, shared that soldiers vacated their barracks to make room for the stranded tourists, ensuring their accommodation during the rescue operation.

 

As per the release, the swift response from the troops brought relief and comfort to the stranded tourists amid challenging weather conditions. The tourists conveyed their heartfelt gratitude for the immediate assistance provided by the army.

 

The release emphasized that while safeguarding the high-altitude border areas in the Himalayas, the army remains proactive in extending assistance to both tourists and the local population of Sikkim.

 

In a remarkable display of commitment, soldiers went above and beyond, vacating their barracks to ensure the stranded tourists' comfortable accommodation. This underscores the Indian Army's unwavering dedication to safeguarding the well-being of those in need.
