Panchayat polls in Rajasthan swept away by the BJP
The Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad held voting on four rounds in November end and early December. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed a big win in the states of Rajasthan as the results were announced. Out of 21 Zila Parishad the BJP won 14 district level boards while the Congress manages only 5 boards according to Prakash Javadekar. The BJP in the Panchayat Smiti gained an edge with 93 blocks over 222 seats where voting took place.
Mr Javadekar said “This shows that the people of Rajasthan are with the BJP. And not only Rajasthan the results in Bihar, Telangana and Arunachal Pradesh, all show that the entire nation is happy with the BJP and its reforms. Voters have rejected the opposition’s negative politics”. He further added “Be it east, south, north…wherever you go, its BJP, BJP, BJP despite the opposition attack on the farm reforms, people are supporting the BJP and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The raging feud between CM Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is barely unseen and this could be the major reason for lessening Congress's dominance in the state of RajOn other hand the BJP gained at a time when a towering leader Vasundhara Raje took a back seat. The former CM of Rajasthan also sent here heartiest congratulations to the winning candidates of the BJP.
The elections were held in the districts of Ajmer, Banswara, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dunganpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tonk and Udaipur. The elections elected 636 members at the Zila Parishad and 4371 members at the Panchayat Samiti.
