Found Alive in Morgue...
In Brazil, a crematorium worker was stunned to discover a 90-year-old woman alive inside a body bag hours after being pronounced dead by hospital staff in San Jose.
The unsettling incident occurred on Saturday, revealing an unexpected turn of events for Norma Silveira da Silva, who was already en route to the morgue for cremation.
Norma Silveira da Silva's caregiver and friend, Jessica Martins Silvi Pereira, shared that the 90-year-old had been admitted to Sao Jose Regional Hospital in critical condition on Friday, grappling with liver issues and unconsciousness.
During a visit on Saturday afternoon, Norma reportedly opened one eye and acknowledged Jessica. Yet, to Jessica's surprise, she received news from the hospital that Norma had passed away later that night.
At 11:40 pm, the hospital issued the initial death certificate citing a "urinary tract infection" as the cause of Norma Silveira da Silva's death.
Jessica expressed dismay, noting that Norma's body was swiftly dispatched to the morgue, depriving her loved ones of the opportunity to bid farewell.
The worker went to collect the woman's body around 1:30 am, but when he opened the bag, he found her still warm and breathing weakly.
Jessica explained that since she was unconscious, she couldn't ask for help. This surprising discovery was shared by Jessica on Fox News.
Following the unsettling discovery, the 90-year-old woman was promptly returned to a hospital room. Unfortunately, she was confirmed to have passed away on Monday morning.
According to Jessica, her elderly friend spent nearly 2 hours in the bag, facing a risk of suffocation. It's uncertain if her death resulted from not getting timely medical help or from an existing health issue. The hospital issued a second death certificate around 5:00 am, stating "septic shock" as the cause of death.
As per the Post, Jessica mentioned that the patient's family intends to sue the hospital. She expressed, "It's a neglect that I wouldn't wish on anyone."
Reportedly, the state Department of Health has initiated an investigation into the incident separately.
