Arrested with Body in Bag in Karnataka?
A 39-year-old startup founder from Bengaluru is accused of murdering her four-year-old son in Goa. She allegedly transported the child's body to Karnataka before being apprehended.
Mindful AI Lab's CEO, Suchana Seth, was arrested in Chitradurga, Karnataka, on Monday. She was found with her son's body in a bag, and the alleged murder took place in an apartment in Candolim, north Goa. The motive for this disturbing crime remains unknown.
Having arrived at Sol Banyan Grande in Candolim with her son on Saturday, Ms. Seth checked out alone on Monday. Despite hotel staff recommending a flight, she insisted on booking a taxi to Bengaluru.
The hotel staff realized her son was missing, and upon further investigation, the housekeeping staff discovered bloodstains in the apartment she had stayed in after her departure.
Upon being alerted by the hotel staff, Goa police contacted the taxi driver and requested to speak with Ms. Seth. When questioned about her son, she claimed he was with a friend and provided a fake address that was later revealed to be false.
To handle the situation discreetly, the Goa police, speaking in Konkani to prevent Ms. Seth from understanding, instructed the taxi driver to divert to the nearest police station in Chitradurga, approximately 200 km from Bengaluru.
Following the instructions, the Chitradurga police arrested Ms. Seth, and the body of her son was discovered in the bag she was carrying. Upon receiving the call from the police, Ms. Seth's husband, Venkat Raman, an AI developer, headed to Chitradurga.
Ms. Seth was transported back to Goa for further questioning by the authorities.
Suchana Seth, as per Mindful AI Lab's LinkedIn page, was recognized among the top "100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021."
