Late former Union Minister P. Rangarajan Kumaramangalam's wife Kitty Kumaramangalam was found murdered at her residence in South Delhi's Vasant Vihar on Tuesday night. The police officials said that one of the main suspects, Raju Lakhan (24), who lived near her home, has been detained. The accused worked as the locality's washerman and came to Ms Kitty's house around 9 pm, the officials said. DCP (South-West district) Ingit Pratap Singh said that they were informed about the incident by the domestic help, Manju, at 11 pm, reported The Indian Express. Reportedly, according to her, Raju, who had come earlier as well, entered the house, overpowered her and dragged her to another room, said DCP. Manju alleged that two of his accomplices also entered the house, overpowered Kitty and dragged her to another room. They suffocated her using a pillow when she tried to raise an alarm. Reportedly, the trio fled the spot with some cash and jewellery. After which, Manju untied her hands and called out to neighbours, who in turn called the police, said a senior police official. The police is in search of the two associates of the accused. Rangarajan was a prominent politician of the Congress who later joined BJP. He served as Union Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.
