Fatal Crash in Noida: BMW Hits E-Rickshaw

Two dead, three injured in Sector 24 incident.


In Noida's Sector 24 today (May 16), a speeding BMW collided with an e-rickshaw, resulting in two fatalities, according to police reports. Three other passengers of the e-rickshaw have been hospitalized with injuries. 

Two occupants of the luxury car involved in the accident have been taken into custody by local police, while a third individual remains at large, according to police reports.

"Around 6:00 am, the e-rickshaw was traveling from Noida City Centre towards 12-22 Chowk with five people on board, including the driver," a police spokesperson added.

"When the e-rickshaw was near Sumitra Hospital, a speeding BMW struck it from behind, resulting in two deaths and injuring three others," the spokesperson said.

The police identified the deceased in the incident as Mohammad Mustafa, 50, and Rashmi, 25, a staff nurse at Metro Hospital in Noida. The injured are e-rickshaw driver Rajendra, 45, Pawan, 27, and Suraj, 20.

According to the spokesperson, two individuals, Tushar Kumar and Adi Batra, both residents of Sector 41, who were in the BMW at the time of the crash, have been taken into custody by officials from the local Sector 24 police station.

Aman Sisodia, the third person in the car, fled the scene after the crash. He also lives in Sector 41, the official added.
