Fire in Goregaon Building

7 Dead, 40 Injured


Mumbai: A seven-story building in Mumbai's Goregaon caught fire, leaving 40 people injured and six people dead.

 

The injured individuals were transported to two hospitals in Mumbai: HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital.

 

A fire broke out at Jay Bhavani building in Goregaon West's Azad Nagar area around 3 am, according to a spokesperson from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The people who got hurt were taken to a special hospital in Jogeshwari and Cooper Hospital in Juhu.

 

Two of the seven victims that died in the fire were children. There were 40 injured people overall, with 12 men and 28 women, including one minor.

 

The fire surrounded the building and destroyed stores, scrap materials, cars, and other vehicles parked on the ground floor.

 

The investigators are still trying to find out what caused the fire.
