The Election Commission of Pakistan is announcing the results of Thursday's (Feb 8) general elections in the country.
Out of the results of 34 seats announced by the Election Commission, the PML-N has won 13 seats, independent candidates have won 12 seats, the PPP has won eight seats and the PMLQ has won only one seat. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has won in his constituency the NA-130 with over 171,000 votes.
The results of 231 seats are awaited.
At 8 am on Thursday the polling started and concluded at 5 pm amid incidents of violence in some parts of the country. The interior ministry had temporarily suspended cellular services citing the security situation.
Imran Khan also shared an image of the trends emerging from the ongoing counting, with PTI-backed Independent candidates leading in 125 seats, Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) in 44 seats, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in 28, MQM at 9 and JUI at 4.
