Happy Dhanteras 2023!

Why do we celebrate it?

Happy Dhanteras 2023! Dhanteras marks the onset of the five-day Diwali celebration, symbolizing spiritual victory. The term "Dhanteras" originates from "Dhan," signifying wealth, and "Teras," denoting the 13th day of the lunar fortnight.

On this occasion, individuals venerate Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth, Lord Kubera, the gods' treasurer, and Lord Dhanvantrari, the God of Ayurveda and health. Observers illuminate oil lamps and offer prayers, seeking blessings for prosperity, well-being, and financial abundance.

On Dhanteras, it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the cosmic ocean's churning, bringing wealth and prosperity. To welcome her, rangoli and diyas adorn homes and businesses.

People buy gold, silver, and utensils, symbolizing the acquisition of wealth and divine blessings. Worshiping Lord Dhanvantrari emphasizes the importance of good health and well-being in life.
