A red alert was issued for Nashik…
On Friday, 27 September 2024, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings for heavy rainfall across Mumbai and Maharashtra, with significant impacts expected over the next few days.
Following the recent trend of monsoons, Mumbai is affected by widespread rain, particularly in the Konkan region, which is anticipated to experience intense downpours here.
According to the new bulletin by the Met Department, a cyclonic circulation lies over north-central Maharashtra, and, under its effect, Maharashtra is expected to witness more rain in a few days.
Heavy rain lashed out at several places in Mumbai. The IMD has issued a red alert for Nashik, while orange alerts have been placed for Palghar, Pune, Nandurbar, and Dhule.
Additionally, every city in Maharashtra is under a yellow alert for the day.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) predicted a generally cloudy sky over Mumbai, with chances of moderate rain and thundershowers across the city and suburbs.
According to the weather department, the Konkan and Goa regions and central Maharashtra will see widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week.
However, September 27 is marked as a crucial day, with heavy rainfall expected to occur in isolated locations. The IMD predicted that some areas could receive more than 12 centimeters of rain.
