Joe Biden reversed the controversial laws including the ban of immigrants mainly from Muslim countries.
President Joe Biden reversed some of the most controversial laws that his predecessor, Donald Trump had passed, on the very first day of him coming into action as President of the United States of America. Mr Biden signed an executive order to reverse the immigration policy that restricted travel and immigration of people mainly from Muslim countries. Biden has directed the State Department to address the issues of the affected people who were not allowed to enter the U.S and resume visas of such countries.
Mr Biden also proposed an immigration bill that would help 11 million people who live illegally in the U.S, to get access to citizenship. The proposal calls for a change from 13-year to eight-year path to citizenship for the immigrants who do not have documents. This bill creates an easier way to gain citizenship for the immigrants who flee violence but it does not touch the issue of border security which may create problem in its acceptance by the Congress Republicans.
Mr Biden also issued a proclamation in order to stop the construction of the wall at the U.S-Mexico border. It would revoke a national emergency that Mr Trump had declared. This would help save the money that was secured for the funding of the wall and would be used for other projects.
