Major Fire At Noida Plastic Bag Factory

No report of injury…

A major fire broke out in a three-storeyed plastic bag manufacturing company in Noida on Monday, said Fire Services officials. No one was injured in the incident that was reported at 8.12 am at Sector 80.

According to Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey, 25 fire fighting vehicles and 125 fire-fighters were pressed into service to douse the flames at Vishnu Packwell, the bag manufacturing company.

“After receiving the information, initially two vehicles were deployed to the spot. But then we noticed that the fire had spread to the entire building and the flames were very high, so we decided to send more vehicles, including those of private operators,” said Choubey.

The officer said that though around 20 people were reported to be inside the building when the blaze broke out, they had all come out by the time the fire-fighters arrived.

“It is believed that the company employees, perhaps along with others in nearby offices, tried to douse the flames on their own initially and alerted the fire officials after the situation went out of control,” he added.

The Fire Department said it would conduct a structural audit of the building to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the building.
