First Indian PM to visit the country after years…
On Wednesday, 21 August 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Poland.
He is the first Indian Prime Minister in the country in 45 years.
The visit is to be made on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Poland.
The last Indian Prime Minister to visit Poland was Morarji Desai in 1979.
"Leaving for Warsaw. This visit to Poland comes at a special time- when we have completed 70 years of diplomatic ties between our nations.
India celebrates its deep-rooted friendship with Poland. This is further cemented by a commitment to democracy and pluralism," PM Modi said in a statement.
"I will hold talks with President @AndrzejDuda and PM @donaldtusk. I will also be addressing the Indian community at a program in Warsaw this evening," he added.
The Prime Minister's two-day visit from August 21-22 will focus on strengthening relations between the two, with discussions likely to cover a wide range of topics, including strategic partnerships, defense cooperation, and cultural exchanges.
European Parliament member Dariusz Jonski has termed the visit as "very important."
