Sonia Gandhi Celebrates 74 Birthday
The Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi was greeted today by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on account of her birthday. PM Modi tweeted “Birthday greetings to Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji. May God Bless her with a long and healthy life”. Union minister Nitin Gadkari also wished her on her birthday on twitter along with many political leaders of the nation sending her their wishes and blessings.
Sonia Gandhi was elected in the Indian National Congress in the year 1998 and she is the longest serving president of the congress party. She turns 74 today but the interim president has decided not to celebrate her birthday today in support of the farmers protest against the new farm laws and also keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation in the country.
The Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal issued a letter asking all the state heads of the Congress to shun all kinds of celebrations including the cake cutting, on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. All the in-charges and state’s party chiefs have been communicated and in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing farmers' protest in Delhi against the three farm laws introduced by the center, Sonia Gandhi has decided not to celebrate her birthday this year.
