Shutdown Called After Leader's Death
Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a well-known Rajput leader, was shot dead at his home in Jaipur. His supporters have called for a Rajasthan bandh today in response.
Gogamedi, the leader of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was fatally shot by three men who, as seen in CCTV footage, had recently shared tea with him in his living room.
Rohit Godara, linked to the Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, has claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post.
Gogamedi and two associates sustained gunshot wounds in the attack. They were taken to a hospital, where Gogamedi was pronounced dead. One of the attackers was also shot dead by Gogamedi's aides in a subsequent gunfight, according to the police.
The sensational murder of the Rajput leader has triggered protests in Rajasthan, adding tension to the ongoing regime change following the BJP's victory over the Congress in the recent assembly elections.
Supporters of the late leader blocked the Shipra Path road outside the hospital, insisting on the immediate arrest of the accused. Protests spread beyond Jaipur, reaching Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur districts.
Rajasthan Police Chief Umesh Mishra stated that raids are underway at potential hideouts of the accused and urged the public to maintain peace.
Gogamedi started Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena in 2015, breaking away from Rajput Karni Sena led by Lokendra Singh Kalvi. Both groups protested against the movie 'Padmaavat' in 2018, accusing it of distorting Rajput history.
