Jailed RJD chief Lalu Yadav who was convicted in the Bihar fodder scam is undergoing treatment for a lung infection in Ranchi.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will be shifted from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to AIIMS-Delhi as his health has worsened, officials said. Former Chief Minister has been diagnosed with pneumonia and is undergoing treatment for a lung infection in Ranchi. "Lalu Prasad is having trouble breathing for the last two days. On Friday, he was found to be having pneumonia. Considering his age, we have decided to shift him to AIIMS-Delhi on the advice of doctors for better treatment," RIMS Director Dr Kameshwar Prasad said.
A team of eight doctors is examining his condition and before shifting him to AIIMS, jail authorities will have to take permission from the CBI court. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, "He has already undergone heart surgery earlier and only 25 per cent of his kidney is functional. He has also been diagnosed with pneumonia. He is facing difficulty while breathing." On Thursday, several tests were conducted and the report of rapid antigen and RTPCR test turned out negative.
Lalu Yadav was convicted in the Bihar fodder scam and has been serving a sentence since December 2017. Since then, his son Tejashwi Yadav has been leading the party.
