For the next three years…
On Wednesday, 11 December 2024, Sanjay Malhotra took charge as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The Reserve Bank said in a statement, he took charge as Governor for the next three years with effect from December 11, 2024.
Former revenue secretary Mr. Malhotra replaces Shaktikanta Das, who demitted office on Tuesday after a six-year stint.
Malhotra takes over at a challenging time, with India’s economic growth slowing to 5.4 percent in the July-September quarter. With growing calls for interest rate cuts, his leadership will be pivotal in navigating the evolving financial landscape.
