Mr Woods suffered severe injuries to both legs due to which he had to undergo emergency surgery.
US Golf legend Tiger Woods got severely injured in a rollover car crash on Tuesday. He suffered severe injuries to both legs when his car flew off the road near Los Angeles. Mr Woods underwent emergency surgery soon after he was moved to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. "Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery," said Dr. Anish Mahajan, the hospital's chief medical officer (CMO) and interim CEO.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that Mr Woods did not seem to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the crash. The steep road where the crash occurred, is prone to high-speed accidents. Reportedly, no other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash. Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, the law enforcement official who was the first to arrive on scene said that Mr Woods was very fortunate to come out of this alive.
Mr Gonzalez found Mr Woods trapped but conscious in the SUV when he first saw him. Firefighters and paramedics took him out of the vehicle and transported him to the hospital. The 45-year-old had recently undergone fifth back surgery.
