Late Tuesday night, at least seven people were killed in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district.

The accident occurred near Devarapalli village when an Eicher truck carrying cashew nuts and eight passengers from Jangreddygudem veered off the road and struck a canal.

According to police, the truck driver lost control while trying to avoid a pothole, causing the vehicle to overturn there.

Seven people sitting on top of the lorry died on the spot. One person was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital. The bodies of the victims were shifted to Kovvuru Government Hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police G Deva Kumar.

Earlier in a similar incident that occurred in August, three children were injured on Tuesday after a private school bus they were traveling in lost control and overturned in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district.

The bus carrying 40 students veered off the road and crashed into agricultural fields in Pamuru mandal.

The onlookers promptly informed the authorities, and they removed the children from the school bus. The authorities, children, and their parents were gathered at the site.
