Wife punches husband to death in Pune after he denies Dubai birthday

Tragic end to celebration dispute...

A man, 36, died after his wife punched him for not taking her to Dubai for her birthday.

The incident occurred on Friday at the couple's upscale apartment in Pune's Wanavdi area.

Nikhil Khanna, the victim, was a 36-year-old businessman in the construction industry. He had a love marriage with his wife, Renuka (38), six years ago.

A senior police officer from Wanavdi Police station stated, "The incident happened on Friday afternoon. Initial investigation indicates that the couple had a dispute because Nikhil didn't take Renuka to Dubai for her birthday and didn't provide lavish gifts on her birthday and anniversary. Renuka was also displeased as Nikhil didn't respond positively to her desire to go to Delhi for some relatives' birthdays."

The police added, "During the altercation, Renuka punched Nikhil in the face. The force of the punch caused severe damage, breaking Nikhil's nose and some teeth. Due to heavy bleeding, Nikhil lost consciousness.”

In the meantime, the police have filed a case against Renuka under IPC Section 302 and have taken her into custody for further investigation.
