As President Biden takes charge today China sends a message to the US.
President Joe Biden was congratulated by China on his inauguration and proclaimed for a reset in the relations between the US and China as the new administration has proposed an end to the quarrelsome term of Donald Trump.
In a press briefing by China’s foreign ministry, Hua Chunying said “With cooperation from both the sides; the better angels in China-US relations will beat the evil forces.” She also said that Biden in his inauguration speech has mentioned the word “unity” multiple times and it is “precisely what is needed currently in the US-China relations.”
China’s tensions under Trump’s administration jumped to rock bottom over matters of trade, security, technology and origins of COVID-19 pandemic and human rights. On Wednesday Beijing took its final dig on the Trump administration by mentioning that more than two dozen members and ex-officials in the former president’s government including the secretary of the state and their family members will be prohibited from entering mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
On Thursday Hua also stated “Over the past few years the Trump administration especially state secretary Pompeo has buried too many mines in the US-China relations that needed to be eliminated, burned too many bridges that needed to be built and destroyed too many roads that needed to be repaired.”
