Students in BHU are protesting against an alleged proposal to make Nita Ambani a visiting professor in the Women's Study Centre of the university. Angry students have sat on a dharna in front of the VC residence and demanded the cancellation of these proposals.
University’s Social Science faculty had allegedly sent the proposal to the executive director of Varanasi Reliance Industries asking Nita Ambani to join the university as a visiting professor at their Women's Study Center. On Tuesday, the students sat on a dharna outside the VC residence against the appointment of Nita Ambani as the Visiting Professor at the university. Along with the students' dharna at the VC residence, the top officials of the universities reached the spot to convince the students.BHU student Abhishek said we will protest Until this proposal is cancelled.
Given the students' agitation against the appointment of Nita Ambani as the Visiting Professor, the VC immediately took cognizance of the matter. Other officials of the university, including the head of the Faculty of Social Sciences, reached VC accommodation. After meeting the top officials, VC met the five students sitting on the dharna. According to the students, VC Rakesh Bhatnagar has assured them that no such person will be made a visiting professor in the university.
