E-Rickshaw Collide In Uttar Pradesh

Late night on Thursday, nearly five people of the same family were killed and 15 were injured after a speeding car hit two other vehicles in a row in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki, police said.

Three others, one of them a child, were left injured in the road accident that took place around 10 pm, police told news agency PTI.

The accident happened on Lucknow Mahmoodabad road in Inayatpur village, around 533 km from the state capital Lucknow, when a car hit the e-rickshaw and then careened into a pond along the road. Moments later another car hit the same e-rickshaw, according to the police.

The impact of the collision was such that one of the cars flung into a nearby pond, locals said, adding that other vehicles passing on the road, ran over the people there.

After receiving the information, authorities, and police came into action.

They immediately reached the accident spot and started the relief and rescue work.

The injured people in critical condition, were sent to the district hospital for medical treatment.

"At night, a car collided with an e-rickshaw. When the police team reached the spot, a car which had fallen into a pond beside the road, was taken out and rescued people were immediately sent to the hospital.

Police officials from Deva, Baddupur, Kursi, Fatehpur, Jahangirabad, and Satrikh police stations are deployed at the hospital and the spot, " said the Superintendent of Police.

The bodies of those dead have been sent for a post-mortem examination and a further probe is going on.
