On Thursday, 29 August 2024, a man was arrested in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district for allegedly sexually assaulting her.
He shows pornographic content to a female student at a school.
The accused used to work as a sanitation worker at the school, was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act after the parents of the girl student reached the police station with a complaint.
The incident came to light when the girl student shared it with her parents. CCTV footage from inside the school also showed the accused handing over his phone to the girl.
The school administration also terminated his services after taking cognizance of the incident.
Speaking about the incident, Nandurbar's Superintendent of Police (SP) said, "On August 27, an incident occurred in a school in Nandurbar. A man working in the school showed pornographic content on his phone to a minor.
Today, the girl student's family reached the police station and took action, a case was filed at Nandurbar City Police Station and the accused has been arrested".
Further investigation into the case was going on and the police are preparing to file the chargesheet against the accused at the earliest, the SP added.
Last month Maharashtra's Badlapur was on fire for the sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls by a male attendant at a private school.
The incident led to a massive protest, following which the Maharashtra government set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case.
